Steps Toward Clarity started with the desire to share what I was learning from various podcasts. I initially wanted to just write detailed, AI-assisted summaries, give them thematic labels, and share them any time I mentioned part of what I’d learned. This way, a person could choose to either read a bit and move on (in minutes), or be inspired to listen and learn far more (in hours).
As I started down that path, I developed workflows for the transcription and summarization processes, and realized tools have a cost. I thought I could probably do more good by turning an idea or two from the episode into engaging content elsewhere, then link back to my full summary and the original episode link. And someday I would develop a business on top of this overall library, to make it sustainable.
Some more AI-assisted conversations later, an alternative emerged: writing more personally, but in a way that aligned with my values and goals. I want to build a business that could one day augment or replace my “day job” while providing legitimate value to people. I want to teach, to train, to guide, and to advise those who wish to “get better” at multiple aspects of life and business. This would involve content generation tools (that’s easy!), but also my own writing … and if I was to keep my style, I would need to use the tools only to generate ideas and “check” the tone and effectiveness.
I soon realized I would not be satisfied only teaching topics I knew – I needed to be learning. And bringing people along on the journey is usually more fun than learning alone. This blended smoothly with my desire to develop a mastery of “basic” topics about business and management in a more precise way – not just reading it once, but actually sitting with the topics and attempting to tease out how they work, relate, and build.
As I continue this journey and take my own steps toward clarity, I’ll make this a map of where I’ve been. Feel free to read along, or skip to a topic that interests you. You’re undoubtedly on a different journey, but I’m happy to help when I can. When I can more clearly articulate the value I personally provide, I’ll develop products and offer services. But always, feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss something, or leave comments in the appropriate places.
Until next time,
– Clint
