About The Blog

Steps Toward Clarity is a blog devoted to learning through application. I start with a concept that is well-known in its field, summarize it for easy reference, then show its application through examples or case studies.

My goal is to learn new things, blend them together, and come away with a deeper mastery than simply reading.

In time, I hope this resource becomes a handy reference, allowing visitors to learn from multiple angles and gain proficiency in a slower, more intentional manner.

I do intend to offer products/services when I feel that I personally have a unique, repeatable value to add. I also intend to post about once per week.

For now, I’m still developing the discipline and routines. They’ll come, along with so much more. One step at a time.

About The Author

I’m Clint. I have performed a number of technical jobs/tasks in my past and present, as well as various DIY trades. I continue to not sleep quite as much as I should, but at least I’m actively improving my diet and habits.

I combine my personality and writing style with the review and insight of artificial editors, all to produce the highest quality content I can. I subscribe to a small collection of podcasts and YouTube creators (some in common), and am slowing reading well-known books in the entrepreneurship and personal development worlds.

My values feel simple, but identifying and shaping them has been a pivotal piece of my recent history, and will no doubt continue. Below is a humble attempt to put them down in writing, to help explain my motivations and ‘north star.’

  • Clarity: I want to make complex topics clearer for everyone, because once we all understand, we can move forward together and have much more valuable conversations. I don’t want to brush off the complexity – I want to develop clarity of thought, purpose, and effect, in a way that promotes transparency and effectiveness in tandem.
  • Teaching: I wish to train thinking, not just knowledge. For me, the transformational power of knowledge is too important to be considered “optional.” I want others to learn the facts, learn how to apply them, and build the wisdom of experience. Usually, this is a magical combination of time spent with a concept, and perspective that aligns with the reader. I’m quite honored when I can provide that perspective.
  • Systems: I natively seek out logic and how things work. Not to reduce everything into formulaic equations, but rather to recognize how things are intended to work best, and how I might alter my actions to bring out the best results while staying true to all present natures. That sounds overly philosophical, but mostly means I want everything (humans, machines, nature) to get along as well as possible, and minimize waste and inefficiency. Because sometimes waste happens, but often it reduces potential effectiveness. When the waste doesn’t provide human value, a system tweak can often redirect it.
  • Bridge: In service of the systems and desired clarity, I attempt to translate intent and meaning, and bring people together to create the best possible results. The better I know the people, tools, and situation, the more likely I can provide tweaks and compromises that truly help. Sometimes, it’s as simple as a spreadsheet, procedure, diagram, or clear definition.

Feel free to reach out. I’ll try and respond, with the expectation that I’m less busy today than tomorrow.
